What is Herbalism?
Herbalism is the use of natural plant based products to promote well-being. Herbs have been used since prehistoric times and remain popular among people who seek effective, side effect free, natural approaches to good health. There are numerous scientific studies demonstrating the health benefits of herbs including their potential to:

  • Enhance male and female fertility (see our Natural Virility web page)
  • Balance hormones at period time and menopause
  • Boost male potency and ease prostate symptoms
  • Regulate digestion, elimination, metabolism and blood sugar
  • Help heart health, circulation and cholesterol levels
  • Ease painful and inflamed joints
  • Enhance mood, sleep and memory
  • Fight fatigue or stress and boost stamina
  • Increase resistance to infection and allergies
  • Sooth chronic skin problems

My approach draws on the ancient traditions of China, India and the West as well as exciting new research and modern high tech approaches to boosting the potency and effectiveness of herbs. This approach is inspired by Michael and Leslie Tierra whose Planetary Herbalism is a similar unification of Oriental, Ayuvedic and western traditions

Benefits
Herbalism provides a structured natural approach to enhance wellbeing, improve energy, circulation, digestion, the condition of the skin and joints, libido, fertility etc. I have a particular specialism in fertility enhancement, women's and men's hormonal and sexual issues.

Herbalism can be the right choice for you

  • When you want a natural, holistic approach to health;
  • Conventional treatment has not helped
  • You want support for chronic or long term issues

Although herbal remedies are available in shops or on line, choice is limited by EC regulations, quality can vary enormously and available information is often confusing and contradictory. By far the best way to take advantage of the power of herbs is by consultation with a qualified, professional herbal practitioner.

Treatment Plan
When we meet, I will take the time to really understand you and your health. Only then will I blend an individual, personal remedy for you that is safe and effective as well as suggesting key supplements and dietary/life style strategies. Above all I will be there for you when you need me to provide on going holistic care. A 4-month intensive course of treatment including initial consultation, three follow up consultations, dietary/ lifestyle coaching and supply herbal products is usual with further treatment on a month-by-month basis if needed.

I only use products from recognized market leaders in the supply of scientifically tested, quality assured, and usually organic herbal extracts. I believe these are simply the best herbal materials available. These liquid and powder extracts are easy to take, highly absorbable and very potent.

Nick Hudis has been a bodyworker and herbalist for nearly twenty years, with busy practices in the North East and Yorkshire. Alongside his clinical work he is demand as teacher: he has his own massage training programme, is a tutor at the Northern College of Acupuncture and runs regular seminars in the UK and Europe.

The son of a doctor and an artist, he followed successful but not totally satisfying careers in archaeology, classical music and finance before discovering his vocation as a bodyworker. He initially studied shiatsu and tuina before embarking on years of exploration that encompassed western bodywork, Ayurveda, lomi lomi, and tantric massage. The result is an innovative and eclectic approach which integrates the healing wisdom of oriental medicine with the precision of western bodywork.

As a herbalist. He trained with the great American pioneers Michael and Leslie Tierra, specialising initially in Chinese herbs, but expanding his approach to include western and other traditions. He has a particular interest in reproductive and sexual health and is keen to promote awareness of natural virility: holistic approaches to men's health.

Nick is also a qualified hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner. He does not practice these disciplines but is grateful for the understanding of language and the mind body connection that he gained from them. He has a life long involvement with Tai Chi, qigong, martial arts and Taoist and Buddhist practice and has been the disciple of a number of masters.

When not working or teaching, Nick loves walking in wild places, growing fruit and vegetables, playing the accordion and for a real chill out, watching Star Trek.
